The amount was handed over to the general secretary of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, and member Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, on Saturday. Talking to reporters, Maurya said, I am a Ram devotee first and the deputy chief minister of the state later. The Deputy Chief Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs 1.10 crore on behalf of PWD employees of the state for the temple construction.

Day s pay as voluntary contribution for Ram temple in Ayodhya

A senior official in the Uttar Pradesh public works department has begun the process of deducting a day’s salary from PWD employees as “voluntary” contribution towards building a Ram temple in Ayodhya, angering staff who said their permission had not been taken. Rajpal Singh, engineer-in-chief of the development section of the PWD, has purportedly written to a bank at Hazrathganj in Lucknow seeking to open an account in the name of “PWD Ram Mandir Welfare”. The letter, dated January 9, 2021, mentions that a day’s pay would be deducted from the salaries of PWD employees and the amount would be deposited in this account.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, he said that PM Modi was collecting funds from common people through the trust in the name of constructing Ram temple. “The government should neither collect funds from citizens nor allocate budget for construction of the Ram Temple,” he added. The government should instead focus on using public funds for the comprehensive development of society, Mr. Pattedar said.
