India Stays Out of China Driven South Asian Meet on COVID Containment South Asian Foreign Affairs meet.
COLOMBO: India and its allies, Bhutan and the Maldives, did not participate in a video conference of the Foreign Ministers of South Asian countries and China on the containment of the raging COVID-19 pandemic in the region.
This was apparently due to the participation of China and its leading role in organizing the event.
Those who participated in the conference held on Tuesday, were the State Councilor Wang Yi (China), Dinesh Gunawardena (Si Lanka), Mirwais Nab (Afghanistan), A.K Abdul Memon (Bangladesh), Pradeep Kumar Gyawali (Nepal) and Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi (Pakistan).

New Delhi: About two weeks after the Sri Lankan cabinet approved the project, Adani Ports announced that it will develop and operate the Colombo portâs West Container Terminal (WCT) for a period of 35 years.
Adani Ports was earlier supposed to have been developing the East Container Terminal as part of a 2020 trilateral pact between India, Japan and Sri Lanka. However, the Sri Lankan government withdrew from that pact and decided to develop the East Container Terminal through its state firm, under pressure from trade unions and opposition parties.
S Korea allows pulling extra from vials
EVERY DROP COUNTS: Skilled workers might be able to squeeze an extra dose or two from each vial with a low dead-volume syringe to reduce waste, an official said
AP, SEOUL
Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency yesterday allowed health workers to squeeze extra doses from vials of COVID-19 vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
The decision came after some health workers who were administering the AstraZeneca shots reported to authorities that they still saw additional doses left in the bottles that had each been used for 10 injections.
Agency official Jeong Gyeong-shil said that skilled workers might be able to squeeze one or two extra doses from each vial if they use low dead-volume syringes designed to reduce wasted medications and vaccines.

ON Oct 29, 2020, Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote an open letter to the leaders of Muslim-majority countries. He asked them to “act collectively” to tackle the “rising tide of Islamophobia and attacks”.
He wrote this in light of French President Emmanuel Macron’s divisive rhetoric in response to the killing of a teacher in Nice. Muslims living in non-Muslim countries, the prime minister wrote, were being subject to “overt and covert discrimination”.
Prime Minister Imran Khan identified a significant problem. Muslims have been vilified, held responsible as a single unit and faced fierce discrimination. Unfortunately, such treatment is showing no sign of relenting in his own neighbourhood of South Asia.
