Swindon Crown Court The trial of a masseur accused of sexually assaulting five female customers had to be abandoned yesterday – due to coronavirus. Callum Urquhart’s trial began at Swindon Crown Court on Tuesday, with prosecutor Rob Welling telling jurors the 38-year-old was said to have inappropriately touched the women as he gave them massages. Jurors were told that a family member of one of the lawyers involved in the case was waiting for the outcome of a coronavirus test, taken on Tuesday evening. It could be Friday before the result was known.

Chase driver accused of breaching community order

Sentencing the driver to a two year community order with requirements to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days, Judge Peter Crabtree said: “This was certainly a case of bad driving but it does not appear it was prolonged in terms of timing or distance. “Nevertheless, you overtook vehicles over white lines, you missed a central bollard by the sound of it, hit one traffic sign and drove at excessive speed through a built-up area.” The judge said the offence was worth a year’s imprisonment, but made the community order as a direct alternative to prison. Drew, of Philip Close, Melksham, was due back before Swindon Crown Court on Monday to answer allegations he breached the community order by failing to attend probation appointments.

But Anthony Munk was spared an immediate jail sentence at Swindon Crown Court on Monday after a judge heard the 32-year-old suffered from learning disabilities, it had been more than two years since the offence was committed and he’d stayed out of trouble since then. Prosecutor Stephen Dent said Munk was given a six month prison sentence suspended for a year-and-a-half at Salisbury Crown Court in March 2018 for possession of indecent images of children.
