BHD talks COVID-19, variants, and vaccines

COVID-19 in Bayonne Cavanaugh said that for almost a year, the BHD, led by Michelle O’ Reilly, has been working nonstop to educate, monitor, trace, and vaccinate the community. Over the last few months, active cases of COVID-19 have been on the rise, she said. As of Jan 28, there were under 500 active cases, according to Office of Emergency Management. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 98 residents have died, and 4,086 have recovered as of Jan. 21.

Hudson Reporter Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center reaches new milestone × Since opening last month the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center has now administered 94 percent of the vaccines it has received, well above the state’s recommended 60 percent threshold. On Friday, Jan. 15, it began offering vaccinations to seniors and residents with underlying health conditions. “Over the past three weeks, the Hudson County Vaccine Task Force has been working around the clock to administer COVID-19 vaccines to our healthcare workers and first responders,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. “Because of the dedication and commitment of our frontline heroes, our county-operated vaccination center is surpassing all state goals. We will continue to expand our operations to ensure that every Hudson County resident has access to this lifesaving vaccine when they become eligible.”
