A 30-year-old male has been arrested following a number of vehicles being broken into in the Upper Hutt region.
A police spokesperson said Hutt Valley Police arrested the man on Thursday after a search warrant at a property in Silverstream, Upper Hutt.
It comes after a number of incidents of vehicles in both public and private parking areas being broken into, police said.
The man will appear in Hutt Valley District Court today, charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

A 35-year-old woman has been accused of fraudulently using bank cards she allegedly stole in burglaries of two properties in Upper Hutt to buy nearly $1000 of tobacco and grocery products. Krystal Janet Marie Pearce appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court on Thursday, in front of Judge Stephen Harrop, facing two charges of entering buildings with intent to commit an imprisonable offence . The buildings in question were stated in court documents as Villa Joseph Convent and St Joseph’s School.

A supermarket worker who stole nearly $20,000 worth of gift cards from her employer has been ordered to pay the money back.
Marise Te Puni appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court today on one charge of dishonestly accessing a computer system to obtain a pecuniary advantage.
Te Puni, who has no previous convictions, earlier pleaded guilty to the charge, Judge Patrick Grace said.
The offending spanned several months from mid 2019 to early 2020, during which time the Lower Hutt woman worked at a supermarket in a position of some responsibility , he said.
