On March 31, 2021, the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team
(POP), with assistance from the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (DTF), arrested 41-
year-old
Jorge Alcazar Vasquez of Rio Dell following a months-long investigation into
ongoing sexual assault of a child under 10.
The Eureka Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) headed the
investigation into the ongoing assaults that occurred in Eureka. The report was
submitted to the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant for
Alcazar Vasquez was issued.
Alcazar Vasquez was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional

DA Maggie Fleming has completed her review of the investigation regarding the Eureka Police Department (EPD) Officer involved shooting of 51-year-old John Karl Sieger on July 23, 2020. A Humboldt County Critical Incident Team, with members from EPD, the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, Arcata Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Fortuna Police Department, conducted the investigation. The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office and the California Department of Justice – Bureau of Forensic Services provided additional investigative resources.
The investigation revealed that shortly after 5:00 pm on July 23rd, an out-of-county friend of Mr. Sieger called EPD to request a check on his welfare, because she had received texts indicating he was contemplating suicide. More Felony Charges for California Insurance Agents in Reported $748K Theft February 11, 2021
Additional charges of felony grand theft were filed this week against licensed California insurance agents Robert Farmer, 66, of Camarillo, and Marion Urcan, 68, of Agoura Hills.
The additional charges were filed after Farmer and Urcan allegedly accepted more than $61,000 in insurance premium payments from a towing company and misappropriated the money for their personal use.
Farmer and Urcan last month were arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on similar charges of grand theft after allegedly accepting over $687,000 in insurance premium payments from multiple business owners and pocketing those funds. The total alleged loss in these two cases is over $748,000.

As a result of the search, it was determined the parcel of land in question did not have the okay to cultivate cannabis commercially.
“A state licence is required to engage in commercial cannabis activity in California. Applicants will also need to provide proof of approval from the local jurisdiction they’ll be operating in before a licence can be issued,” according to the California Cannabis Portal.
For personal use, adults over the age of 21 can cultivate six plants per parcel of land in California and locals may “reasonably regulate” personal cannabis gardens, adds information from the California arm of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
