NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said a number of activities will be organised to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru.
Chairing a meeting of a high-level committee to commemorate the anniversary through year-long events, he said these activities should be such that not only the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur but also of the entire Guru tradition is propagated the world over.
Hailing the social service rendered by the Sikh community and gurudwaras all over the world, Modi said proper research and documentation on this aspect of the Sikh tradition should be done.

Chandigarh, April 8 : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said all those arhtiyas whose commission and labour wage dues have been pending since the last procurement season would get interest on them for the delayed amount. The process of payment of interest will start from today and the arhtiyas have been asked to get their accounts verified. Necessary directions in this regard have been issued to the Food and Civil Supplies Department, an official statement quoting Khattar said.

New Delhi, April 8 : The 400th Birth Anniversary (Prakash Purab) of Guru Teg Bahadur should not be looked only as a religious event but his sacrifice for the religious freedom should be highlighted, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said on Thursday. This event should not be looked as a religious event but much more emphasis should be put on highlighting the sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur for religious freedom. Guru Teg Bahadur wanted to establish freedom of religious faith, peace and unity across the world, he said during the high-level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on commemorating the event.
