The Hawk Eye
CARTHAGE, Ill. Hancock County, Illinois, has not received COVID-19 vaccines yet, county public health officials announced Friday, saying staff will announce updates as the situation unfolds. Rest assured we will do our best to provide pertinent information as timely as we possibly can, said Melita A. Finney, community health director for Hancock County Health Department, in a media release Friday.
Hancock County is not one of the state s 50 highest-death-rate counties, which are getting the vaccines first. HCHD so far has reported 24 COVID-19 deaths. There is no vaccination waitlist. When in fact our county does receive the vaccine, the health department will follow the Illinois Department of Public Health guidance on distribution from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, said Finney.
