Harrison County Health Department rescinds mask order
Harrison County Health Officer Courtney Cross confirms that the health department board of trustees on December 16
th rescinded the public health order requiring the wearing of face coverings or masks when around non-household members.
The board voted three to two to rescind the order, which was to go into effect on December 17
thto help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Cross says the board listened to public comments for two hours at the meeting before voting.
The Harrison County Health Department will continue with a public health advisory. Cross notes the health department will also continue with education and to encourage residents to use mitigation strategies.

The Harrison County Health Department and Harrison County Health Officer Courtney Cross have issued a public health order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The order involves all persons at least two years old wearing a face covering or mask any time they are or will be in contact with others who are not household members. It will be in effect starting December 17
th and going for 60 days.
The order says facilities and businesses that are open to the public should post a sign at all entrances that face-coverings or masks are required to be worn inside. Harrison County schools should also implement a mask mandate policy.
