The panelists are Jennifer Schrimsher, an infectious disease doctor at LMH Health; Ruaa Hassaballa, the COVID-19 testing equity project manager at Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health; Tiffany Lewis, chief operations officer at Heartland Community Health Center; Brian Bradfield, associate vice president of ancillary services at LMH Health; and Kathy Colson, a retired public health nurse who began working for the health department during the pandemic. Story updated at 5:23 p.m. Friday Data from four local health organizations showed that nearly 12,000 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Douglas County as of Thursday. Karrey Britt, spokesperson for Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, sent data compiled from reports by LMH Health, Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, Haskell Indian Health Center and Heartland Community Health Center. The data shows that these four organizations have administered 11,892 of the 13,840 first doses they have received, or 85.9%. The four organizations have also administered 1,716 of the 9,180 second doses they have received, or 18.7%.

Hong, File) Unified Command will make a change to its established Phase 2 coronavirus vaccine distribution process in order to vaccinate all residents of senior living facilities next week, according to the director of the health department. On Wednesday, the Journal-World reported that 17 senior living facilities in the county were originally supposed to get vaccinated in Phase 1. When the state and Douglas County moved into Phase 2, however, Unified Command’s chair of the Vaccination Planning Unit said this population would not be given priority. As of Wednesday morning, 1,114 individuals in the 17 facilities needed to be vaccinated.
