April 30 2021 11:57 AM EDT Some of the biggest corporations in U.S. have joined together in an unprecedented show of support for the LGBTQ+ community as part of the Human Rights Campaign’s Business Coalition for the Equality Act. Over 400 corporations, including dozens of Fortune 500 companies like Apple, IBM, Amazon, and PepsiCo, have jointly called for passage of the Equality Act. The historic bill if signed into law would amend existing law to extend protections against discrimination in housing, federal programs, and elsewhere to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

An NBC News survey put Biden’s approval at 53% against 39% who disapprove, while Fox News put his job performance approval at 54% and CBS News at 58%. Americans broadly approved of Biden’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, as cases and deaths recede from winter highs and the U.S. vaccination program presses ahead at a faster pace than many other countries. Some 64% of adults gave him positive marks for handling Covid-19 in the ABC poll. In the NBC survey 69% approved and 27% disapproved.

The president also received support for his coronavirus relief package passed in March and his $2 trillion infrastructure proposal aimed to help boost the post-pandemic economy. The poll showed that 46% percent of Americans believed the president s $1.9 trillion Covid relief bill which sent direct payments to Americans and extended unemployment insurance, among other policies was a good idea, while 25% said it was a bad idea and 26% did not have an opinion. Additionally, 61% of respondents said they believe the worst of the pandemic is over in the U.S., while only 19% think the worst is yet to come. Biden s infrastructure plan, which aims to revitalize U.S. transportation infrastructure, water systems, broadband and manufacturing, as well as combat climate change, was also popular among respondents. 59% said the plan is a good idea, while 21% disagreed and 19% did not have an opinion.

Mark Murray © Provided by NBC News WASHINGTON As President Joe Biden nears his 100th day in office, slightly more than half of Americans say they approve of his job performance, with Biden getting his highest marks on handling the Covid-19 pandemic and his lowest on the situation at the southern border. Those are the results of a new national NBC News poll, which also finds a public that’s largely supportive of Biden’s top legislative priorities; that’s become more optimistic about defeating the pandemic; and that’s more bullish about the country’s direction than it was back in January.
