Amendment to Halifax Regional Municipality Charter
April 8, 2021 - 11:12 AM
Government is amending the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter to support the municipality’s plan to improve the pool area on the Central Common.
The changes announced today, April 8, will allow the municipality to construct a permanent building and fence. The building will replace the current structure and include public washrooms, change rooms and a small multipurpose space. The municipality also plans to build a new pool and splash pad.
“The Halifax Common pool and splash pad is a popular destination for residents in the summer and the current facilities do not meet accessibility standards, said Municipal Affairs Minister Brendan Maguire. “The municipality has identified this project in its budget as a priority to ensure access for its residents.”
