The Golden Globes were always a presence in Hollywood, but they achieved greater significance over the past dozen or so years, when they started being broadcast live, coast to coast. They became a fixture, not only of the awards calendar, but in popular culture. But all that threatened to collapse when NBC announced Monday, May 10, it would not be broadcasting the 2022 award ceremony, criticizing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for corruption and lack of diversity.

Washington [US], May 12 (ANI): American film production and distribution company Neon has become the latest addition to the growing list of companies boycotting the Golden Globes.
The indie studio behind Parasite and I, Tonya minced no words about what it sees as The Hollywood Foreign Press Association s failures to enact meaningful reforms in the wake of a report that revealed that the group had no Black members, reported Variety.

I would ve done the same, NBC.

In the words of the wordsmith Jojo, the Golden Globes cancellation by NBC feels “too little too late.” Best known for being a star-studded red carpet event, the Golden Globes has been airing on NBC since 1993. For many, a nomination or a win at the Golden Globes is a sign that Oscars are not that far down the line. And for others, they don’t care about the awards and are just there to have a good time thanks to the likes of comedian guest hosts like Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler.

New Delhi: US television network NBC has announced that it will drop its broadcast of the Golden Globes ceremony in 2022. The decision comes after the Hollywood backlash over the lack of diversity and the ethics of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), whose members vote on the annual awards for film and television.
It is for the first time since 1996 that NBC has decided not to broadcast the awards.
Actor Tom Cruise joined a revolt led by a host of streaming platforms and top studios, and urged others to join the call for action. The Mission Impossible star also returned the three awards he won for his roles in the movies
