The Helsinki District Court has handed down a one year and six month suspended prison sentence over a boat crash in which two people died. The collision of a motorboat and a sailboat happened in the Archipelago Sea in southwest Finland in August 2019. The crash took place in a stretch of the open sea known as Airisto, near the city of Turku.
The court found the defendant guilty of two counts of aggravated manslaughter and aggravated traffic safety endangerment, as well as two counts of causing grievous bodily injury.
