One new death and 36 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Houma-Thibodaux Tuesday

The Houma-Thibodaux area added 36 combined new coronavirus cases and one new death Tuesday, according to the state Health Department.
Terrebonne reported 12 new cases for a total of 7,284. Deaths remained at a total of 174. Lafourche added 24 cases for a total of 6,757. Deaths increased by one to a total of 176.
Louisiana added 867 confirmed coronavirus cases and 18 new deaths. There have been a total of 358,862 cases in the state and 8,559 related deaths since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, state figures show.
Statewide hospitalizations have decreased by 22 to a total of 1,122, and the number of people using ventilators increased by two to 151. Regional hospitalization has remained at a total of 57 and regional ventilator use has increased by one to a total of five.
Vaccinations are by appointment only. Appointments can be made by visiting ohnmychart.org/TGMC or by calling 873-4686.
Those eligible to receive the vaccine include persons ages 65 years or older, law enforcement and other first responders, dialysis providers and patients, home care providers (including hospice workers) and home care recipients.
To date, TGMC has administered over 5,000 vaccines utilizing a drive-through distribution process at the Civic Center. Vaccine allocation changes from week to week and without notice.
TGMC continues to stress the importance of wearing masks, staying at least six feet away from others, avoiding crowds and washing your hands often to protect against COVID-19.
