Counterfeit euro notes detected in Finland show slight increase in 2023

In Finland, the detection of counterfeit euro banknotes experienced a slight uptick during the year 2023, with authorities identifying 653 forgeries in circulation. This represents a modest increase from the 469 counterfeits found in the previous year, indicating a continued vigilance in the fight against fake currency but still within the range Finland is accustomed to. The majority of the counterfeits detected were 20-euro notes, which accounted for a total of 364 instances.
