The owners of Christchurch s NG building have managed to halt the destruction of their 110-year-old property to make way for a new $473 multi-use indoor arena.
Roland Logan and Sharon Ng filed an injunction against the Crown in the High Court in Wellington to stop the compulsory acquisition of the building by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).

Tani Adewumi is only 10 years old but he has just become a Chess National Master with a rating of 2223.
It is an incredible achievement for anyone at that age, but made even more stunning by the story of the Nigerian refugee and his family.
Tani first made headlines when he won the New York State chess championship at the age of 8, after playing the game for only a year, while living with his refugee family in a homeless shelter.

Today, nothing s improved, nothing s changed . actually it s worse .
Bryan s commute to Windermere in 2019 used to take about 45 minutes. Now, that s how long it takes just to get from Barretts Rd to the Wairoa Bridge most mornings - a 7.5km distance. If she needs to be in Tauranga at 8.30am, she leaves at 7am just to be sure I m there on time .

A heartbroken father has spoken of the moment his 10-year-old daughter was shot dead in front of him by an assassin in camouflage.

A 10-year-old Auckland schoolboy missing overnight after he didn t come home from a North Shore shopping centre has been found safe and well.
Filianga Fakatava was reported missing after leaving the Northcote Shopping Centre and failing to return home.
A police spokesperson confirmed the youngster had been located safe and well .
He had stayed the night with someone known to him.
Family and police were asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward, wanting to make sure he was safe.
