So, in summer and autumn, you can often find me with my boots on, trudging around the highlands of scotland, looking for the last vestiges of the winter snow. the amount of times that all snow*s vanishing is increasing. the sphinx patch of snow — britains most durable — has disappeared really quite a lot in the last couple of decades. so, it disappeared first of all in 1933 for the first time in known history, then in 1959, again in 1996, 2003, 2006, 2017, 2018 and finally this year, 2021...

Iain cameron has been documenting scotlands snow patches for 25 years. i asked him why he does it and what hes discovered tells us about the impact of climate change in these highlands. the snow that i look at is a relic, or they are relics, of previous winters falls and they persist on the varied gullies and cliffs on the shaded gullies and cliffs of the scottish highlands well into summer and often beyond. in fact, some persist right through the year. so, in summer and autumn, you can often fi...

>> one of the real tragic ironies of history was that hitler was put into power right at the moment where his movement looked like it was going to fall apart. >> a right wing insider brought the fuhrer back to life. >> one man emerges with a dangerous idea. >> former chancellor franz von papen was trying to get back into power. >> convinced he can put hitler in his pocket. he set out to convince his friend, president hindenberg, to make hitler chancellor if hitler would make papen vice chancello...

Keep the left out of power. hindenberg, fatefully, agreed. and on january 30th, 1933, a hate-filled demagogue -- >> the third reich of adolf hitler is born. >> -- seized power. everything was under control, papen said. >> famously, at this moment, papen said to a friend, we have hired him. he says, in six weeks, we will have pushed him so far into a corner, he will squeak. >> but within weeks, adolf hitler made himself a dictator and soon he was killing off enemies and rivals including many of t...

So, we have dealt with the cataclysmic volcano — lets turn before to the asteroid now hurtling towards the earth. not literally. we are not in any mortal danger. it will pass earth tomorrow from a relatively safe distance of 1.93 million kilometres. asteroid 7&82, as it is known, was first discovered some 30 years ago, and it has been tracked by nasa throughout its journey. in size, it is over 1000 kilometres wide, bigger than the worlds tallest building, and it is on a loop around the sun, la...

Different than france. france wants something different than england, and its a difficult negotiation. antony blinken may be the worlds best negotiator, so i think some of these things are a bit overblown. its always going to be problematic, and, frankly, the more we talk about them, the more were doing putins business. all putin is trying to do is divide america from nato, and when were talking about that, that starts to look like its happening when, in fact, it may not be. >> rick, lets not fo...
