Despite being knocked out of FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Moroccan team made a mark just by qualifying. The team also overcame many odds including racism against player Nouhaila Benzina in the lead up to a match with France, writes Khaled A. Beydoun.
Each player will receive $30,000 for participating in the group stage, and $60,000 for progressing to the round of 16 as part of a grant from FIFA, with more bonuses up for grabs as the tournament progresses.
Morocco's ladies, who made their World Cup debut on Monday, failed to tackle their German counterparts as they were beaten 6-0 at Melbourne's Rectangular Stadium.
