The 20th Davao City Council approved the Davao City Earthquake Disaster Response Ordinance during the 40th Regular Session. The ordinance requires building owners to put up Earthquake Recording Instruments (ERIs) in their buildings to monitor earthquakes and help buildings become stronger. First District Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Jr., the proponent of the ordinance, said that this ordinance will help avoid further disaster or damage to existing buildings.
The 20th Davao City Council has repealed the mandatory face mask ordinance, effective immediately. Although no longer required by law, face masks are still strongly encouraged to be worn in public, especially by children and individuals who are unwell.
The new Commodore of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-District Southeastern Mindanao, Rejard V. Marfe has committed to allocate floating assets for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE).During a media interview, Marfe announced the commitment of all available Coast Guard floating assets, including two capital ships from Japan and France, to assist in transporting election paraphernalia for the October 2023 elections.He also said there are six PCG stations and 39 substations strategically located in the Davao Region. These stations are fully equipped and staffed by PCG personnel.
