The ongoing 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is abuzz with the latest screening – "Bijoyar Pore (Autumn Flies)", directed by Abhijit Sri Das. The film, released on January 12, has earned its spot in the Cinema of the World section of the festival, attracting attention and anticipation from cinema enthusiasts.

The Dhaka International Film Festival, in its twenty-second edition, commenced with a grand opening on Saturday. The festival, the largest of its kind in the country, has been abuzz with the presence of both national and international film industry luminaries since day one. This year's lineup boasts an impressive 272 films from 74 countries.

The narrative, based on actual events, unfolds in a small town in 1990s Bangladesh, where the film's protagonist, Dipa, portrayed with resilience and conviction by Aanon Siddiqua, grapples with the aftermath of a failed marriage, societal taboos, and the weight of family honour. "Surot" is a 13-minute and 30-second cinematic journey into the intricacies of human life. The cast of the film includes Nawshaba Ahmed, Mizanur Rahman, Rashed Sagar, Munna, and Manik Saha, amongst others.

Scheduled to run until January 28, the festival will feature screenings at various venues.

The quintessential Bengali beauty and legendary actress Sharmila Tagore graced the stage as a special guest. Audiences and the media eagerly awaited the moment when the renowned actress would share her insights on stage.

The festival, spanning nine days from January 20 to January 28, will showcase 71 films from Bangladesh. Notably, the films “Mujib: The Making of a Nation” and “Fereshteh” will be available for viewing at the festival free of charge.
