A United Airlines 777 with Pratt & Whitney 4000 engines landed safely at Denver International Airport on Saturday after its right engine failed.

Showers of jet engine parts over residential areas on both sides of the Atlantic have caught regulators' attention and prompted the suspension of some older Boeing Co planes from service.

The Federal Aviation Administration is stepping up inspections of Boeing 777 airplanes equipped with certain Pratt + Whitney PW4000 engines and it's likely some will be removed from service, according to a statement from FAA Administrator Steve Dickson.
