i mean, you. >> a fox business alert, new data shows consumer confidence in the economy dropping to his lowest point in 16 months as inflation takes a heavy toll on american spending power. >> cheryl casale and from fox business here with the details. good morning. >> good morning to both of you. it's not a surprise to most consumer confidence hit a 16 month low as americans grapple with sky high inflation from their groceries to their gas tanks. the latest read on inflation, as you know, is sitting at 8.6%. that rating of 98.7 for customer confidence was worse than economists had expected and these numbers would likely actually be worse than we saw if not for the tight labor market right now keeping wages higher. otherwise we would expect this to be even worse.
