WAYNESBORO — A teacher often leaves her mark on students, but how often does a school leave its mark on a teacher? Wenonah Elementary School created a foundation for Abby Boxler Arey, assistant principal of Stuarts Draft Elementary School for two years, as an educator. This summer, Arey will return to that foundation as principal of Wenonah Elementary. “I had taught there, and I loved it,” Arey, who was at Stuarts Draft Elementary for eight years, said of her first teaching position, teaching 3rd graders at Wenonah Elementary for seven years starting in 2006.

Virginia woman turns 104

Virginia woman turns 104 Augusta County woman turns 104 By Tara Todd | February 5, 2021 at 8:05 PM EST - Updated February 8 at 5:20 PM FISHERSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A woman in Fishersville, Va., is hitting a remarkable milestone. But it’s happening without the ones she loves most by her side. Eva Furr is having a different kind of birthday celebration, and her family is doing what they can to make her feel loved on her special day with a card shower, cake, and gifts handed off to staff, and window visits. “She used to say she’d pray every day that she would live to be 100,” said Furr’s son Elwood Furr.
