Lagos home-grown terrorists turning Nigeria’s commercial capital into a war zone

Lagos is indeed home to the good, the bad and the ugly. As opportunities abound to put in the hard work and be successful, some boys and young men have constituted themselves into street terrors and unleash mayhem on innocent residents and visitors alike. DEJI LAMBO takes a look at the factors aiding them and proffers solutions
In different parts of Lagos, almost on a daily basis, gangs of armed and violent youngsters snatch phones, bags, wallets and laptops, pick pockets, mug pedestrians, break into homes, crash uninvited into parties, demand protection money and burgle shops. They also engage in free-for-all, commit arson and murder.

Two businessmen have been reportedly shot dead by hoodlums who invaded Igbe-Lara community, in the Igbogbo-Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Lagos State on Sunday.
PUNCH Metro gathered that everyone was going about their daily activities when suddenly no fewer than 15 hoodlums, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the Igbe-Lara bus stop and opened fire on the people.
Residents and business owners, whose shops were located in the area, were said to have scampered for safety.
However, while a yet-to-be-identified man dealing in the dog business was shot dead at the front of a leisure centre, Dre Bar, another businessman, Olanrewaju Omobolaji, aka Excel, was also gunned down in a pub, Garden Bar.
