The Livermore Warming Center opened on Dec. 17, 2022, as an overnight shelter for unhoused adult residents of Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin. The warming center is open when overnight temperatures

Abode Services helps unhoused people in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Alameda Counties. They also partner with community groups like those at St. James Episcopal Church to provide food and other necessities.

Although the city of Berkeley has benefited from state-supported programs and local policies that aim to tackle houselessness, community members have been pushing for alternative and more substantial approaches.

The East Bay city of Newark has been awarded nearly 40 million dollars in funding from the state's Project Homekey program, to support the conversion of an existing extended-stay hotel into 124 affordable housing units.

San Francisco used single-room-occupancy hotels to help its homelessness crisis. Yet Mayor London Breed has spent millions to evict people from the same SROs.

Ultimately, no matter the city’s work to provide supportive housing for residents of People’s Park, the decades worth of history will not be preserved.
