Clay senior swimmer Abram Hagedorn
Clay senior Abram Hagedorn has been through a lot during his four years of high school, but he finished the career with the swim of his life. Abram broke the 50-second barrier in the Division I state meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, finishing fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.88. That is over a half second better than his district time (50.5). “It was really a fun time. It was my first time at state, actually. It was sweet unexplainable,” Hagedorn said.

Clay swimmers Joslyn Jurski and Abram Hagedorn have been rewriting the program’s record book during their prep careers, and they likely are not done. Both were swimming to get on the Division I state meet podium at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, which was held Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 24-27. Clay coach Rod Gyurke thinks what they have accomplished is even more impressive when you consider that the team only participated in a handful of meets this season.
