The Civil Status Agency has announced that more than 16,000 national IDs of Saudi citizens have been renewed electronically ever since the launch of the e-renewal service by Absher online platform.

The Absher platform has clarified that the misuse of the traffic violation objection service may lead to a temporary suspension of the service.

The new service will enable male and female citizens to request renewal of their national ID electronically without the need to visit civil status offices, using the latest facial recognition technologies.

The news that went viral recently about the Absher platform and Tawakkalna application being merged is incorrect, Assistant Minister of Interior for Technical Affairs Prince Dr. Bandar Bin Abdullah Bin Mashari stated.

The sources stated that the unified platform would provide its services to the beneficiaries, including citizens and residents. The beneficiaries can carry out their own transactions within a single application that links all government sectors electronically.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has clarified that all the arrears of work permit fee, expatriate fee and dependent’s fee, caused by the delay in the issuance and renewal of residency permit (iqama) linked to work permit, shall be paid altogether and there is no split payment allowed for these arrears at the time of renewal of iqama on a quarterly, half-yearly or nine-month period basis.
