United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Force Commander Visits Warrap Following an Upsurge of Tensions

The head of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), Jean-Pierre Lacroix, is in South Sudan for a joint visit to the region with Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to South Sudan, Guy Murray Warrington, has stated that the progress in the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement has not met the expectations of His Majesty's Government.

Lacroix said, “this is an important time for South Sudan. There are challenges and there are also expectations on many fronts, and I think it’s also an expression of solidarity from the UN as a whole.”
