220 centres for accelerated learning set up in Balochistan - Pakistan

The Balochistan Education Department, with the financial support of Unicef, has set up 220 centres under the Accelerated Learning Programme in different districts of the province. Murtaza Ali/White Star QUETTA: The Balochistan Education Department, with the financial support of Unicef, has set up 220 centres under the Accelerated Learning Programme in different districts of the province. These centres have been set up mostly in areas which have no government school. Around 8,000 students are getting free education in these centres. The programme seeks to provide primary education to out-of-school children within three years as opposed to usual six years to overcome the age gap created because of school years missed by these children. The main objective behind the launch of this programme was to make sure that the time of overage children did not go to waste.

The Government of Japan and UNESCO sign agreement to support the Ministry of Education’s TV channel [EN/AR] Format The agreement to commence the project “Mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on Education through distance learning in Iraq” (about 600,000 USD) was exchanged between Mr. NAKAGAWA Shu, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Iraq, and UNESCO Senior Project Officer, Sae Osawa, on Thursday 4th of March 2021. The project is for UNESCO to continue its support to the Ministry of Education (MoE) in delivering distance learning through its Education TV channel that aims to reach more than 6.3 million primary school children and other children who do not have access to education throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and beyond.
