The Lafayette Parish School System is taking applications for the 2024-2025 school year for its Magnet Academy programs.

According to an announcement sent out by the district on Sunday evening, there will be a staggered release of schools in light of the severe weather in Lafayette on Monday.

Some schools have decided to dismiss early on Monday January 8, due to the threat of possible severe weather in Acadiana.

Due to the threat of severe weather, LPSS will dismiss students early on Monday, January 8, 2024. Buses will be sent to the schools at the dismissal times listed above to return students home.

Acadiana schools that will be closed or having early dismissal Monday, Jan. 8 due to potentially dangerous weather and flash flooding risks.
