The Committee Held part one of this hearing in july of last year after new ths that the department was expanding its use of facial recognition for varying purposes such as confirming the identity of travellers including u. S. Citizens. As facial Recognition Technology has advanced, it has become the chosen form of Biometric Technology used by the government and industry. I want to reiterate that im not holy op

We understand before we even walk in the door what the value is that were going to bring to the table. So, the name like that, while we still pass around business cards, while we still create relationships, theres still a recognition today with a name like cisa were here to help both in the Cyber Security mission and also protecting Critical Infrastructure. And that mission has changed over time as well. Today, as we move further and further away from 9 11, and that antiterrorism, post9 11 mission is gravitating towards domestic terrorism. Its an incredibly important issue that we needed to care a lot about and make good policy on. Were meeting today to discuss the state of Cyber Security in the grid and the continuing threats facing Americas Energy truer. We continue to see increasing threats to the grid originating both at home and abroad. Im glad to see the doe and ferc and others taking steps to address the growing dangers posed by nefarious actors. Our energy grid serves as the backbone of our economy Touching Every aspect of our lives and a reliable grid is also crucial to our National Secu

There are thousands of federal buildings across the country that not only serve as workplaces for federal employees, but also host daily visitors who come to access important federal services and help keep our government functioning efficiently. These facilities face a range of security threats that put both people and property at risk. And of those threats are only continuing to grow. Threats related to domestic and International Terrorism and even disinformation are rising and according to the department of homeland security, can endanger our federal personnel and Critical Infrastructure. Todays hearing will focus on what actions are needed to secure the 9,000 federal facilities overseen by dhs federal protective services. The facilities host the mold of bold ofthe civilian and federal employees and are visited by 1. 4 million americans each and every day. Currently the federal facilities are secured through a twostep proces
including some marked as top secret, and meant to be only available in special government facilities. a list of items removed from the property shows fbi agents took around 20 boxes of items as well as binders of photos, at least one handwritten note and a document about pardoning trump s ally, roger stone. also included was information about the president of france, according to the three-page list. that list contained in a seven-page document also includes the warrant to search the premise which was granted by a federal magistrate judge in florida. the list includes references to one set of documents marked as various classified tssci documents, an abbreviation that refers to top secret sensitive compartmented information. it also says agents collected four sets of top secret documents, three sets of secret documents and three sets of confidential documents. the list didn t provide any more details about the substance of the documents. to the extent that anybody is back to
