As a part of their 12 year plan, SEPTA seeks to make all stations accessible by 2034, bringing them in compliance with the American Disability Act.

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Federal Transit Administration is awarding $29.6 million in an All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) grant to the Connecticut Department of Transportation that will be used to make accessibility upgrades on three stations along the Metro-North Railroad Waterbury Branch Line, including in Ansonia, Seymour, and Beacon Falls.

The city of Seattle will soon be receiving 15 million in funding to make the Seattle Center Monorail station fully ADA accessible.

The New Jersey stations cited by the federal program are considered legacy systems, given their lack of accessibility for all users.

New Jersey will receive $34.1 million to improve accessibility at Pascack Valley, Bradley Beach, Chatham and Orange rail stations.

Plans include raised platforms, four new elevators, accessible bathrooms, and improved lighting and signage. Read more on Boston.com.
