Richard Currie was elected the new colonel of the Accompong Maroons in St Elizabeth on Thursday. The 43-year-old, who is reportedly the youngest person to become colonel, polled 681 votes to attain victory over his closest rival, the incumbent Ferron Williams who amassed 400 votes. The other competitors in the race for colonel received double-digit votes.
