The move came weeks after Nitish Kumar's JDU ended an alliance with the BJP.

Five Janata Dal (United) JD(U) MLAs merged with the ruling party BJP on Friday, according to a statement from Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

JDU workers allegedly assaulted the family members of Sadam, vice president of Imphal West BJP Minority Morcha, on Friday morning.
