A total of 283 patients attended the ED in the 24 hours to 8am this morning.
In the previous 24 hours, there were 241 attendances.
This is in contrast with last year’s average daily attendances of 195.
UL Hospitals Group is urging the public in the Mid-West to consider all care options before attending the ED.
During the past month, the ED has been experiencing very high numbers of people sick with non-COVID illnesses and over the past two days, attendances at the department have never been higher.

UL Hospitals Group is urging the Limerick public to consider all care options before attending the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick, which is currently managing an unprecedented level of presentations.
During the past month, the ED has been experiencing very high numbers of people sick with non-Covid illnesses and over the past two days, attendances at the department have never been higher.
A total of 283 patients attended the ED in the 24 hours to 8am this morning, making for the single busiest day ever experienced in the department. In the previous 24 hours, there were 241 attendances.

University Hospital Limerick emergency department
The region’s main hospital is once again urging people to reconsider all care options before presenting to its emergency department.
It’s the second such warning from the UL Hospitals Group in the past four weeks.
It comes after 70 patients were reported to be waiting for a bed at UHL by nurses yesterday, almost three times that of any other facility nationwide.

The Group says the number of patients presenting to the emergency department in Dooradoyle has never been higher, with people only encouraged to present to the facility in the event of serious illness or injury.
