Four religious structures, India's sole leprosy museum and a bungalow that housed the resident doctor have been restored as part of a Rs 3-crore project by Mumbai's civic body
A Grade-2 heritage precinct, Acworth Hospital for leprosy patients is 120 years old; its structures are being renovated and restored at a cost of nearly Rs 4 crore by the BMC.
Dr Amita Pednekar, medical superintendent of the Acworth Leprosy Hospital said that during the pandemic they had taken all necessary care of these leprosy-affected people or inmates so that they don’t contract infections.
