Kazakhstan’s legislative elections, scheduled for January 10, have largely been written off by analysts as a foregone conclusion. AKIPRESS.COM - Elections to the lower house of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held on Sunday, Jan 10. The 8th parliamentary elections will be the first regular elections, not snap, for the first time in 16 years.
Nur Otan party, Ak Zhol party, People s Party of Kazakhstan, Adal Party, and Auyl party are running for 107-seat Mazhilis.
98 members of the Mazhilis are elected by the voters, the threshold to win a seat is 7 percent. 9 members of the Mazhilis are elected by the Assembly of the Peoples of Kazakhstan.
