ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Authorities in Zanesville are investigating a fatal car accident, from Monday evening.
According to the Zanesville Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. on West Main Street by Gant Municipal Stadium.
Reports say, 41-year-old Adam Barnhart of Zanesville was traveling eastbound, when he allegedly went left of center, and struck a westbound vehicle head-on, driven by 28-year-old April Compton, also of Zanesville.
Compton suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision; She, as well as three passengers, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Barnhart was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed is considered to be factor in the crash, that remains under investigation.
Man killed, woman seriously injured in head-on crash
ZANESVILLE - A 41-year-old Zanesville man died Monday night after going left of center on West Main Street and striking a car carrying a family of four head-on in front of Gant Stadium.
Adam Barnhart was killed on scene in his Chevy sedan but was later pronounced dead at Genesis Hospital, Chief Tony Coury said.
The car Barnhart struck, an Acura sedan, was carrying 29-year-old April Compton, 27-year-old Jacob Hatcher and two children, ages 7 and 1.
All four Zanesville residents were taken to Genesis for treatment. They are stable and expected to recover.
