Pfizer and BioNTech announced filing an application to the United States Food and Drug Administration for Emergency Use Authorization of a SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.4/5-adapted bivalent vaccine.

The vaccine, which is adapted for the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron variants, would be meant for ages 12 and older. If authorized by the FDA, the doses could ship as soon as September.
