or where does it stand? we ll see. this is the second weekend in a row, they re taking a test vote to break a filibuster on the bipartisan bill that needs 60yea s. the cryptocurrency that they ve put on there, unworkable and unsustainable and all of this, means this bill should not pass. it s going to make inflation worse. there s a push to add reporting mandates to the bill for cryptocurrency that would raise about $28 billion to cover the cost of the bill. the senate majority leader chuck schumer tried to force for the bill then, but he s still getting pushback. we can get this done the easy way for the hard way, in either days, the senate will stay in session until we finish our work. it s up to my republican colleagues how long it takes. now, you need 60 votes to
breakthrough if congress is able to reach a deal on background checks. other things like shannon was talking about that president biden wants, assault weapons ban, prohibition on high capacity ammunition, that does not have a realistic path in the senate. background checks, we are seeing glimmers of hope this might happen. one reason for optimism is that chris murphy and john cornyn have worked on gun issues before. a modest piece of legislation passed in 2017 with a lot of support to add reporting into the background check system, to improve how that operates. they know their way around gun politics. they have been discussing this. there s optimism they can agree on background checks component and come up with legislative long. it does sound promising. keep us posted. shannon at her post at 1600 pennsylvania avenue. this morning, the family of officer brian sicknick who died after the capitol riot taking
there uncertainties that could affect the economy and the election. the other thing is that yes there are a lot of people that do hold stock in the united states. a bit over 50% of people hold stock. that is laws. presumably, the older generations, the older people who do own stock will continue to tend to vote. those people that are. are the voters really voting just on the economy this time around? it is an unusual presidency. they have been a lot of things that affected voter sentiment. the republican women in the suburbs leading republican candidates and voting democratic in 2018. neil: is their security in battleground states? i was curious about the wrinkle here with fedex add reporting disappointing numbers. people look at transportation stocks and big names like that. could there be noise here?
