Rigg breaks another Bryan swimming record in win over Wauseon

WAUSEON — Kellen Rigg added another Bryan swimming record to his resume. The junior broke the 200-yard IM record — which was previously held by Brad McDonagh (2:07.50) in 2008 — with a 2:06.78 against Wauseon in a nonleague meet on Tuesday at Wauseon High School. Rigg also has the record in the 100-yard butterfly (52.95), 200-yard freestyle (1:43.16) and 500-yard freestyle (4:43.37). Rigg’s performance also helped lead the Golden Bears’ boys to a 91-61 win over Wauseon by placing first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.02), the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:36.65) with Ara Alyanakian, Collin Barrow-Whetro and Jackson Miller and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.87) with the same three. The girls fell to the Indians 107-77.

Bryan boys, girls swimming both finish 3rd in Napoleon Invitational

NAPOLEON — Bryan boys and girls swimming each finished third in the Napoleon Wildcat Invitational on Saturday at Napoleon High School. The girls finished the 16-team meet with a 388, falling behind first-place Ottawa Glandorf (606) and second-place Napoleon (519). Lima Shawnee (210), Lima Bath (144) and Defiance (108) rounded out the top six. The boys tallied a 339 in the 15-team meet and finished behind first-place Napoleon (456) and second-place Ottaw Glandorf (339). And like the girls’ meet, Lima Shawnee (320), Lima Bath (178) and Defiance (126) completed the top six. The Golden Bears’ Jackson Miller and Kellen Rigg each won two races for the boys. Miller won the boys 100-yard freestyle in 53.17 and the 50-yard freestyle in 24, while Rigg took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.83 and the 100-yard butterfly in 54.34. Collin Barrow-Whetro (53.53) placed behind Miller in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.76).
