Image Source: IANS News Bhubaneswar, Feb 11 : A local court in Odisha s Balasore on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to former contractual cameraman of Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Ishwar Behera on charges of espionage. Balasore Additional District Judge (ADJ) court convicted and awarded life imprisonment to Behera, former cameraman at DRDO s Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on charges of espionage. Behera was arrested in January 2015 for passing confidential information to Pakistan s intelligence agency ISI regarding testing of missiles at the ITR. ADJ Balasore convicted accused Iswar Behera former cameraman of ITR Chandipur in CID CB Case No. 02/15, for life imprisonment, on charges of espionage, tweeted the Crime Branch of Odisha Police.

All Commercial Appeals From District Court Orders To Now Be Listed Before Division Benches: Delhi High Court

The High Court of Delhi has on Wednesday directed its Registry to list all commercial appeals from district court orders before the Commercial Appellate Division Benches. The Court has also directed these appeals to be registered as FAO (Comm) before they are listed before the Commercial Appellate Division. A Single Bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has directed that all appeals filed under Section 13(1A) of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015, arising out of orders or judgments passed by a Commercial Court at the level of District Judge, including Additional District Judge will be listed before the Division Benches. The directions have been issued after a legal question arose in a petition before the Delhi High Court, as to whether, in terms of Section 13 (1A) of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015 appeals arising out of orders or judgments passed by District Judge of Commercial court exercising Original Civil jurisdiction are to be heard by a Single Judge or Division Bench o

BHUBANESWAR: The 17-year-old boy, facing charges of rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl in Nayagarh district in July, will face trial as an adult in the children’s court, said the juvenile justice board (JJB) on Wednesday. The court of the additional district judge (ADJ) is the designated children’s court in Nayagarh. Under the amended Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act in the aftermath of Nirbhaya case, a child in conflict with law between the age of 16 years and 18 years shall be tried as an adult in the children’s court if he is allegedly involved in a heinous offence. This is perhaps the first such case in the state where a minor, accused of committing a heinous crime, would face trial as an adult under the amended JJ Act.
