In a setback to the Delhi police, a city court on Tuesday granted bail to climate activist Disha Ravi, arrested for sedition for allegedly sharing a toolkit related to the farmers protest on social media, holding that evidence on record was not sufficient to keep a 22-year-old young lady with absolutely no criminal antecedents in custody. The offence of sedition cannot be invoked to minister to the wounded vanity of the governments, said Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana, and opined that citizens are conscience keepers of government in any democratic nation and they cannot be put behind the bars simply because they choose to disagree with the State policies.
