Google plans to establish a regional data center in Israel for its cloud computing services, Google Cloud Platform, Haaretz has learned. The project could see hundreds of millions of dollars invested by the search giant in local infrastructure.
According to information obtained by Haaretz, the internet giant is negotiating with a number of operators of server farms in Israel and may have already signed a contract with one of them. Google seeks to build a giant data center and turn Israel into a “Region” supporting its international cloud operations.
