Some childless adults don't want to parent because it's too expensive. But more than half of those unlikely to have kids just don't want them.

Last month's job growth exceeded the average forecast of 450,000 new payrolls. It also marked an encouraging rebound from September's small gain.

Leisure and hospitality gained 164,000 jobs in October but is still 8.2% below pre-pandemic employment.

Women came back to the workforce in October, just after kids had gone back to school. It's a sign that childcare helps women get back to work.

The supply-chain crisis is still causing shortages and delays, but firms see something else. They plan to hire a record amount of holiday workers.

"The stronger recovery for self-employed workers is consistent with trends in previous recessions," Rakesh Kochhar of Pew Research Center said.

Biden's new spending plan would cut the timeline of the program and give it to fewer families based on income caps. Right now it's helping millions.

"It's really critical to making sure that all women can participate in the workforce," Jocelyn Frye of the Center for American Progress said.
