The playground will be located along Richwood Road, next to the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes. The 9,600-square-foot playground is ADA-accessible.
The city has a $78,800 contract with planning and design firm RDG of Omaha, Neb., to look at options for three areas: the Pavilion and the park land around it; the city ice arenas; and West Lake Drive between Washington Avenue and Legion Road.
The first meeting of the new commission was held Wednesday, March 23. Members discussed the results of a community survey that had been done a couple of years back, in which respondents gave the community "a solid 'B'" grade on its various creative and cultural endeavors, according to commission chair Amy Stoller Stearns.
