65 candidates in Odisha assembly elections first phase have criminal cases. Major parties like BJP, Congress, BJD, and AAP have candidates facing charges. 70 candidates are crorepatis, with diverse educational qualifications and age demographics.

As per the ADR reprt, 8 out of 30 BJP candidates, 6 out of 9 Congress candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

The analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Watch showed that nine of these MPs have serious criminal cases, including charges related to murder, attempt to murder, and dacoity.

The BJP has declared donations of nearly Rs 720 crore in 2022-23, which was more than five times the aggregate amount received by four other national parties -- the Congress, AAP, CPI-M, and National People's Party

The BJP received Rs 259 crore or 70.69% of the total donations received by all political parties from electoral trusts. The BRS got Rs 90 crore or a fourth of the total donations received by all parties from all five electoral trusts. Other three political parties including YSR Congress, AAP and the Congress together got Rs 17.40 crore.

As many as 205 of the 230 newly-elected MLAs in Madhya Pradesh are crorepatis, with BJP lawmaker from Ratlam City, Chaitanya Kashyap, topping the list with declared assets worth Rs 296 crore, according to an Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report.
