The feedlot manager of Kuwaiti-based exporter Al Mawashi was arrested on Thursday after the bloody dehorning of 126 large rams it had earmarked for live export to Kuwait for slaughter, the national council of SPCAs said on Thursday afternoon.

About 50,000 sheep are being loaded on a ship in the East London harbour for export to Kuwait after the National Council of SPCAs failed to get an urgent high court interdict to stop it.The NSPCA this week said its inspectors had found the pre-loading feedlot conditions of the sheep fell far short of SA’s own guidelines, with many of the animals lame, sick, pregnant or malnourished.
