Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) board member Advocate Smanga Sethene has slammed reports of an age restriction to Prasa recruitments.
Sethene addressed the media on Monday amid controversy over the hiring of Zolani Matthews as the new CEO of the passenger rail agency.
Matthews was announced as Prasa’s first permanent CEO in six years by Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula a week ago.
But GroundUP published an article saying at the age of 64, Matthews cannot take up the position.
The rail agency’s policies deem him to be too old.
But Sethene maintains that Matthews was appointed in line with Prasa policies.
